What’s in Mrs. Hale’s Receipts for the Million 1857?
1100. To remove Herbs and Flowers in the Summer. — If you have occasion to transplant in the summer season, let it be in the evening after the heat is past; plant and water the same immediately, and there will be no danger from the heat next day; but be careful, in digging up the earth, you do not break any of the young shoots, as the sap will exude out of the same to the great danger of the plants.
Here I go again. Things are just slipping by as my job winds down and I move onto new horizons. Eleven years worth of boxes piled up on my floors at home and at the office I’m leaving. Memories fluttering out like moths. I say goodbye to teachers and friends. It’s hard to find the words to say thank you and ask why, but life goes on they say. I won’t look back, just be grateful for the lessons I’ve learned. Like Mrs. Hale’s hint on flowers and herbs, I will carefully transplant myself at the end of the day and gently put down tender shoots into my new endeavors.
I’ll write my novels and garden for words. And find new young minds and hands to teach what I love best: history.
