During the interview, host Colin Mustful talks with Oakley about the Norwegian resistance movement during WWII, the important reason her main character can speak in sign language, and how her own family history helped make her into a storyteller. Don’t miss it!
About History Through Fiction
Founded in 2019 by Minnesota Author and Historian Colin Mustful, History Through Fiction is an independent press publishing high quality fiction that is rooted in accurate and detailed historical research. As publishers of historical fiction, we seek to provide readers with compelling narratives that also act as valuable historical resources. Our books, though fictionalized, include important primary and secondary source materials that are disclosed to readers through a variety of traditionally nonfiction elements such as footnotes, endnotes, or a bibliography. This way, readers may enjoy a fictional narrative while also examining the historical foundation upon which that narrative is based. By combining elements of fiction and nonfiction, our authors provide readers with an immersive experience that is both entertaining and educational.
I just listened to your interview. Love your enthusiasm for history. Love the Vichy reference!
Merci bien, Tom. That plaque in the Vichy square dedicated to the 25 students shot by the Gestapo certainly has stayed with me, at least in the back of my mine.
I listened to your podcast/interview today. I continue to learn so much from your books about this time in Norway’s history. So many good stories! Judy Baird
Thank so much. I appreciate you commenting. This is a talk I gave to my lodge in January about my trip to Shetland and Norway in June. https://youtu.be/-JjV7sUdIMI
